THE ERGONOMICS OF PROPER POSTURE

Ergonomics is a field dealing with man's adaptation to the milieu in which he lives.

Given that this milieu in which man lives is Everything, ergonomics deals with Everything. In this site I deal only with those areas of ergonomy having to do with the architecture of industrial objets, or what is commonly known as "design."

The area of design of hand-made objects can also be considered from an ergonomic point of vue. Such objects can be produced by man or by other animals: the nest is a non-industrial object produced by certain species of animal. It is a sort of reorganization of materials in a way that seems appropriate to them.

Certain postures are natural ones (walking); others are un- or anti-natural (kneeling)...

... others are actually not postures per se, but rather, poses (i.e., postures that communicate something)

Even animals are sometimes obliged to adopt a pose in order to communicate something

FURNITURE-INDUCED POSTURES
We must pay attention to objects that cause us to adopt a particular posture...

... these are not all as conducive to good posture as is the throne of Pharaoh Keffren

...and certain of these should take the user into consideration
